Astro Doings June 2012

Hi Everyone

June promises to be a very busy month with some pretty spectacular heavenly doings.  The two indicators of feminine energy –the Moon and Venus — are putting on quite a show with back-to-back eclipses and a couple of planets are changing direction – so June won’t be dull!

Eclipses of the Moon and Venus

There is a partial lunar eclipse on Monday, June 4th at 7:12 a.m.  The Moon will be at 14 degrees Sagittarius. While we won’t be able to see it, we will feel its effects.  Anyone with planets from 10-18 degrees Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo, Pisces, Leo or Aries will be particularly effected by this eclipse.  An eclipse opens an energy vortex, which remains open for many months.  Whatever planet is triggered by the eclipse will remain sensitive — aka hyperactive, asking for your attention to its issues — during the period.

The next day, Venus eclipses the Sun.  Astronomers call it a transit, as the planet moves across the face of the Sun, looking like a little black dot.  The whole world will be watching this — the last time this happens in our lifetime, unless you live to 2117.  We will see the beginning of it.  The eclipse will continue after the Sun sets and Europe will see the end of it.  Venus will be at 16 degrees Gemini, so her eclipse will impact the same degrees of Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo, Pisces, Aquarius and Libra as the Moon’s eclipse the day before.  Because she’s in Gemini, we add the other two air signs to the list — Aquarius and Libra.

What I find most striking about these twin events is the opening of energy vortices focused on feminine energy.  Certainly any planet in your chart that is impacted will make this opening more personal, but for all of us this is a time to bring back into balance the feminine in our own worlds.  The image of little, tiny Venus, the planet of love moving across the massive face of the Sun, quintessential male energy, which has captivated the entire world, is a potent reminder of that “love is all there is.”   And the lunar eclipse, where the Earth moves between these two lights, can be viewed as a symbol of bringing both into balance once more.  I would encourage all of us to contemplate these celestial displays and their meaning deeply.  While these can be explained astronomically as the moment of the planets in the heavens in divine order, the fact that they are coming at the same time, I believe is significant.

And Venus leaves the night sky and goes direct on June 27th at 11:07 a.m.  She’ll be at 7 degrees Gemini — so from 0 to 12 degrees Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo, Pisces, Aquarius or Libra will feel the shift.

Other Direction Changes

Neptune:   And if a lunar eclipse isn’t enough on June 4th, Neptune, the planet of illusion, fog, the film industry as well as compassion and redemption, goes retrograde (backwards) at 5:05 p.m at 3 degrees Pisces.  She won’t leave her own sign during this 5 month retrograde.  As I’ve said before, planets in retrograde motion generally are experienced more inwardly.  Time, perhaps, to turn our compassion in on ourselves.  It’s a wonderful time to continue our work on our own redemption and fog can certainly provide a new perspective on things.  Those with planets in early (0-10) degrees of Pisces, Virgo, Sagittarius, Gemini, Cancer or Scorpio will be most effected by this shift.  Interestingly Neptune is considered to be the higher octave planet of Venus.  She too is feminine in her energetic nature.  Venus says: I love you because you love me.  Neptune says: I love you because it is in the nature of love to love.  More meditation fodder!

Saturn:  Lest we leave the males out of this month completely, Saturn, representative of fathers and male authority figures of all types, ends his long retrograde on June 25 at 4:01 a.m.  He’ll be at 22 degrees Libra, which Venus rules.  Are we seeing a theme here?  Saturn loves to be in Libra because it is the sign of balance — well, in theory anyway.  Complete equilibrium is stagnation and Saturn loves the status quo.  Anyway, those with planets from 18-27 degrees Aries, Libra, Capricorn, Cancer, Aquarius or Gemini will feel this shift as Saturn starts moving forward, expressing himself more easily and challenging us in our relationships — of all sorts.  And since Libra is about balance — another celestial expression of our need for energetic balance.

Summer Solistice

The Sun enters Cancer on June 20 at 7:09 p.m.  There is a new Moon the day before.  Lots of water, since Cancer is a water sign as is Pisces where Neptune is.  This is called a trine in astrology.  Emotions could be running very close to the surface during the last two weeks in June with the Sun and Neptune working easily together or we could have to deal with water issues — too much, not enough.  There also could be an increase in “psychic” revelations on the Internet — and our own ability to tune in could flow more easily during this time.

Have a wonderful June!

Peace and blessings,

Margaret
