Astro Doings December 2011

Hi Everyone

Hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving, survived Mercury’s retrograde and the solar eclipse the day after Thanksgiving without any difficulty.  December promises to be equally exciting as we exit 2011 and on to 2012!

Saturday December 10th has two — not one, but two — significant astrological happenings.  First at 2:05 a.m. ET, Uranus stations (i.e. stops and changes directions) at 1 degree Aries.  Attention all with planets, rising signs, lunar nodes in late degrees (26-30) or early degrees (1-5) of Libra, Capricorn, Cancer or Aries, or late degrees Pisces, Virgo, Gemini, Sagittarius or Leo.  Uranus, planet of the higher/abstract mind, destroyer of old, out-dated patterns or institutions, can help free up stuck thinking patterns.  He rules electricity among other things, so these ah-ha’s often come out of the blue, like lightening bolts, but this energy can feel disruptive.  He really won’t start moving again until January.  He’ll just sit there an pulse energy at us all.  A wonderful time to do away with old thought patterns/forms that no longer serve.

The second astrological event on December 10th is a lunar eclipse at 9:36 a.m. ET.  It occurs at 18 degrees Gemini.  We will not be able to see it, but those with planets etc at 15-21 degrees Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, Pisces, Aquarius, Libra will be most affected.  There are many of us — depending on your cohort (note I didn’t say age! :-)) who have Uranus in Gemini, a sort of double astrological whammy if you will!  Eclipses open energy vortices at the degree of the zodiac where they occur, so this point will be sensitive and triggered by other planets that transit this degrees for several years.  Lunar eclipses are about service — a sense of giving back for all that we have received.  It also marks the beginning of the end of any old patterns. depending on how it impacts your individual chart.

AND — Mercury goes direct on December 13th at 8:43 p.m.  Hopefully any communication or other issues that have arisen during his retrograde period will be re-solved.  He’ll be at 4 degrees Sagittarius when he changes direction.  Another planetary direction change is Jupiter who stations direct (means he starts moving in direct motion, as opposed to retrograde) on Christmas Day at 5:09 p.m.  He’ll be at 00 degrees Taurus, signaling a new beginning (at zero degrees of a sign) perhaps in our attitudes toward possessions, wealth and values– key themes  for Taurus, which is the most earth-bound of the signs.  Perhaps a new appreciation of Mother Earth?  Wouldn’t that be nice!  Could also mean freer spending at the post-holiday sales.

The Winter Solstice occurs on December 22nd when the Sun enters Capricorn at 0.30 a.m. ET.

I hope you all have a most joyous and Light-filled holiday season this year, and only that which is for our highest and best in 2012!

Peace,

Margaret
