Astro Doings July-August 2026

Hi Everyone

Hope you’re having a good summer so far.  July and August will be busy with planets changing directions and the second set of eclipses for the year.

July

On the 7th Neptune begins her first retrograde period in Aries, which will continue until December.  As you know, when a planet is in retrograde motion we tend to experience its energies more inwardly. Neptune is the planet of faith and illusion, the deep waters of the sea and our emotional nature.

On the 9th Venus enters Virgo and is the only planet in an earth sign. We’ve got lots of fire and air and a little bit of water, but the current energy is much more airy than it has been in a while – volatile, innovative, starting without finishing, and male in its feel.

On the 20th Jupiter in Leo is opposed Pluto in Aquarius and trine Uranus (ruler of Aquarius) in Gemini.  And on the 22nd the Sun enters Leo, joining Jupiter.  This can be a very powerful time with a lot of energy, new ideas with energy to implement them or a lot of bombast with very little follow-through.

Mercury ends its retrograde period on the 23rd.  He’ll be at 160 Cancer and is at this point the only planet in water.

Saturn stations retrograde at 140 Aries on the 26th.  Like Neptune, he’ll be retrograde until December, which includes the November elections.  He is currently opposed the Saturn in the US chart – Saturn representing the executive.

The Full Moon occurs on the 29th.  She’ll be at 60 Aquarius and conjunct (next to) Pluto and trine (easy flow of energy) to Uranus and opposed Jupiter. This is a very powerful combination of planets.  The New Moon occurs on the 14th. She’ll be at 210 Cancer.

August

On the 6th Venus enters Libra and is trine Uranus and opposed Neptune. Venus likes Libra—the sign of balance and relationship (also stagnation).  But she will be influenced by the outer planets in her search for relationship, which may be a little disruptive (Uranus) or foggy (Neptune).

On the 9th Mercury joins the Leo brigade and on the 11th Mars enters Cancer, the only planet in a water sign. Needless to say Mars is not happy in the Moon’s sign, all that watery, emotional stuff does not sit well with active, warrior-like Mars.

The next day (the 12th) is a solar eclipse. The Sun will be at 200 Leo. It is a total solar eclipse and will be visible in the US. It will last 5.5 hours approximately, so if it impacts your chart at all, it will do so for about 5.5 months.  Solar eclipses generally indicate new beginnings of some sort.

On the 22nd the Sun enters Virgo – phew a little more earth, and Mercury joins him on the 25th.

On the 28th there is the companion eclipse to the solar one – a lunar eclipse. The moon will be at 40 Pisces.  It is a partial eclipse, and again visible in the US.  It too will last about 5.5 hours.  Lunar eclipses generally represent either the ending of things or types of behavior or service of some sort.

Hope you have a lovely summer!  See you in the fall.

         Peace and abundant blessings,

         Margaret
